All right, now we’ve got a little something to fill that void that’s been left by A Tribe Called Quest. Or perhaps you might be a fan of De La Soul. If so then we’ve definitely got a track for you. It’s called ‘Balance’ from The Crown City Rockers. It’s got that laid back chilled-out vibe that Tribe was known for and the instrumentation and beats are taking this track a long way toward what makes this such a killer track. But it’s the emcee that really makes it shine. His rapid-fire flow is fantastic and his lyrics are on point. Read the rest of this entry »

‘Asleep In The Back’ comes to us from Brent Palmer, a singer-songwriter from Texas. Brandi Carlile presents us with the track called “Fall Apart Again”, a great song that is overflowing with emotion and great melodies. It’s going to feel right at home on the radio, which I’m sure she will be finding her way onto any time now. It’s bluesy, acoustic, roots-rock that is polished enough for all listeners, but retains enough grit to show that she is not some overdone studio-made artist. She’s the real deal. Found another great track for you to check out. This one’s called ‘Car Underwater’ from Armor For Sleep. It’s off of their latest called ‘What To Do When You Are Dead’ and it’s a superb piece of hard rock. Similar in style and sound to Jimmy Eat World, this track has got crunching guitars backed by a soaring sing-along “I would still die for you” chorus and a stick-in-your-head melody. They obviously know how to write a good hook and they’ve been touring relentlessly. All of these things being the recipe for success nowadays. This song really shows that Armor For Sleep are firing on all cylinders. Watch these guys. I suspect it won’t be long before they’re all over the radio.

‘If I Had Wings’ is a single from Andrew Osenga’s latest called Souvenirs And Postcards. Andrew is someone that I’ve been listening to for quite some time and this song is an excellent example of why. It’s just him, an acoustic guitar and some heartfelt lyrics. Very sparse, very laidback and utterly touching. Read the rest of this entry »
