The Fire Theft is the latest incarnation of the guys from Sunny Day Real Estate. It’s an on-again off-again band that has broken up and reformed about six dozen times. The problem here is that they make really great music together and thus it makes splitting up quite difficult. But they keep giving it the old college try anyway.

But we now have the Fire Theft, which is comprised of 3/4’s of Sunny Day. And as you could expect from these guys, the music is once again stellar. And we’re just fortunate enough to be serving up ‘Chain’ from their debut album, if that’s what you want to call it. ‘Chain’ exemplifies the fact that Sunny Day are continuing down the path that they started with Sunny Day’s last album. It’s sort of a modern tribute to the rock gods. Huge sounding instruments, soaring vocals, ornate instrumentation, it’s all here.

So whether if the band does indeed decide to call it quits, you can feel glad that we got another great song and album from them. And in case you’re a fan and you’ve been looking for your beloved Sunny Day, they’re over here camouflaging themselves as The Fire Theft.
