‘Captivation’ is a solo guitar piece that immediately grabbed me because of the thick guitar chords employed in this piece. Then the melody began to really sink in and I was hooked. Just a stunning piece of music.

‘Captivation’ is actually the opening movement of a piece called ‘Celebration Suite’ by UK composer Derek Hasted. The other movements to the piece are ‘Contemplation’, ‘Consolation’ and ‘Celebration’.

Bruce’s technical abilities are without question after hearing this track, but what sets him apart from most of the solo guitarists that I hear is the emotive qualities of his playing. He saturates the piece with feeling.

The piece is best summed up by a friend who walked by when this track was playing. His first words after hearing only a few seconds was “Wow, that’s great stuff”. He hit the nail on the head.
