I’m bringing out something a little different today. We don’t have a whole lot of jazz on the site. As a matter of fact we haven’t had any. Until now that is. And the reason for this is very simple. I enjoy jazz a good deal, however most of the modern jazz that you hear is either redundant and uninteresting or smooth jazz, which, in my opinion is about on par with Muzak , which is to say, just about ready to qualify as cruel and unusual punishment. So it is with great enthusiasm that I found Mr Paul Fisher & The Mulligan Kings and their track called ‘Paul’s 52nd St. Theme’.

‘Paul’s 52nd St. Theme’ has got the flavor of some really hot club jazz. You know when you watch a movie that’s set in the 20’s and 30’s and the main actors head into the club with the really swinging band playing. Well, let me introduce to you one of those swinging bands. They’ve definitely got both the vibe and the licks nailed. This track has got the feel of Brian Setzer and Duke Ellington. Also a little bit of the flavor of Benny Golson.

So be sure and check out our very first jazz entry to Gigatracks, because as you can tell, good jazz is very hard to find, so you don’t want to miss it when it comes around.
