‘Such Great Heights’ from the Postal Service is a very unique blend of indie rock and electronica. It’s what happens when you take an indie rock guy-(Ben Gibbard of Death Cab For Cutie) with an electronica guy(Jimmy Tamborello of Dntel) lock ‘em away in a studio. They create one of the most interesting pieces of pop music that you have heard in a very long time. It’s very rare that you hear something that sounds different AND sounds good, but that’s what you’ll find here.

When I first heard this song, I had never heard of The Postal Service, however it turns out that these guys have not only been making some noise, they’ve actually been selling quite a few records. Something to the tune of 350,00 copies or some ridiculous thing like that. Why is it ridiculous? Take a listen to the song. It’s a killer track, but definitely doesn’t fit in the MTV, Clear Channel model of music. So, we had to put them here on GT, because it very much fits in with our model. The idea that sometimes really great music wins out, just because it’s really great music.
