OK, ‘Ugly To Beatiful’ is from Aquilina. They have tons o’ talent and can obviously craft a killer song. It’s got a little bit of a celtic feel to it which really gives the track it’s unique flavor. But it also has a very strong chorus and some great musicianship that fills out the song.

The band sites various people such as Chris Cornell, Coldplay, and Nick Drake as influences, but this is one of the more unique sounding bands that I have heard in a while. And while they do mention that they formed at art school, it doesn’t come across like one of those hyper-kinetic exercises in ‘How many time changes and scales can I cover in a three minute period.’ Nope, this is the real deal. An honest-to-goodness great sounding song with a healthy dose of originality.

Oh yeah, another thing… this track is recorded live. That’s right, no re-takes, do-overs or touch-ups. What you see is what you get. Which makes the track even more appealing since you would never know it was live until the end when the people start to cheer. Really a great song from a band with great skills.
