OK, let’s get a few things out of the way right to start with. Hum is my favorite band of all time….. ever…. yes really, ever. SO you’ll have to pardon me if I swing from their privates a little on this review. Aphids from Hum is an outtake from their last studio album ‘Downward Is Heavenward’ and it’s as good if not better than what was on that album. But I guess you have to draw the line somewhere and this track got left behind. Well now you can get it from your pals here at GT.

Hum doesn’t really sound like anyone else I’ve ever heard. They are loud…. VERY loud. They have a wall of sound present in their recordings and each time you listen to it, you hear something new. I’ve heard a few other bands though that are directly imitating this band. Who can blame them. Hum is from Champaign Illinois and they scored a minor radio hit with the song ‘Stars’. Since then they have gone on to split up, but then they’ve also played together again recently, so rumors are circulating about whether they will be doing another record. Here’s hoping that they do.

So, if you missed ‘Stars’, which is entirely possible since it wasn’t THAT popular, check out ‘Aphids’ and enjoy the track. If you were already familiar with Hum then you are probably already downloading it as we speak.
