As I continue my travels throughout the worldwide Hip-Hop kingdom here on Gigatracks, I come upon “The Most Quotable” I’m not sure if a song title was ever more appropriate than in this case. This song is about lyrics so don’t get it twisted. If you are into verbal acrobatics and punchlines galore then welcome home. The players in this production are beatlayer Vincestrumental, main spit-kicker Stylus and featured emcee Baptist.

The opening moments of the song outline the musical canvas that will be the basis of this lyrical demonstration. This musical soundscape is married to a classic Boom-Bap beat and from here we are thrust into a non-stop lyrical beatdown as Stylus and Baptist proceed to provide us with lines that we are bound to quote in the future. Now when you hear them kick you will immediately notice that these two emcees don’t hail from Anywhere, USA. My educated guess on the emcees’ origin is Australia. The hook makes a reference to what I believe is Canberra, Australia but of course I could be wrong (NEVER).

Now this one is what you might call rough, rugged and raw. There’s some jagged edges around this composition: the beat seems to wander a bit at the end and there are a few spots where things are not in total mechanical sync but I believe this ruggedness is by design because it adds to the freestyle feel of the whole thing. Now there’s plenty of quotes to be had in “The Most Quotable” but my favorite (or should I say favourite) is dropped towards the end when Stylus says, “Like Tim Burton, I awakened your girl’s sleepy hollow.” Something to make you say, “Hmmmnnnnn.”
