Wrong side, off of Dan Israel & The Cultivators 1999 release Mama’s Kitchen, is country folk rock in the vein of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. It’s a really good song to sing along to with your friends loudly and make general nuisances out of yourselves. The Cultivators, like many good music acts, are based out of Minneapolis. My theory is that it’s too freakin’ cold to do anything else there in the winter besides huddle in your friends basements and write songs. And The Cultivators back up my theory by displaying their honed songwriting skills in Wrong Side, showing their knack for a good hook and a catchy melody. So if you like your rock with a little jangle or if you like your country, well, country as opposed to pop with a cowboy hat, then check out Wrong Side. And if you don’t like any of these things check it out anyway…. and quit being so hard to please! Post a comment
