Despite some technical difficulties, we managed to get a copy of Chris Bryan’s ‘Seasons’ to share with everyone. And I think you’ll agree that it was worth the effort. This is a simple, beautiful acoustic track that features just Chris and his acoustic guitar. His voice just seems to float over the bare strumming and creates the perfect texture for this song. The simple sound, makes a great backdrop for the personal heart-felt lyrics, such as, “I look you up and down to see if love will surface again”, which is a killer lyric, I might add. Chris is being touted by some as the next John Mayer. And because of the acoustic tracks and some similarities in his voice I guess that comparison is inevitable. Although I’m not a huge fan of ol’ Mayer, so I’d pick Chris over John if given the choice. Chris has a more unique sound in my opinion, where as John many times sounds too much like Dave Matthews. Chris, who is also a student teacher, makes the statement in his bio, “The majority of the material for this album was created while grading essays and drinking red wine. I would give somebody a B+ and then run to my bedroom to write down a melody.” And his melodies are impeccable. Each time you strip a layer away from your sound, the remaining layers become that much more important. They have to be that much better. Chris manages this with ease as he delivers an intimate, earnest track that never feels forced. That’s the kind of talent that separates a good artist from a great one. Post a comment
