A little bit of serendipity brought me this wonderful track ‘Seems So Far’ from Jets Overhead. I was actually trying to get clearance for a track from Tegan & Sara and since I was having trouble getting the go ahead for that one, I was directed to this track instead by Piers Henwood, who happens to be Tegan & Sara’s manager and also Jets guitarist/keyboardist. And I am appreciative of that, because Jets Overhead turned out to be an absolutely amazing band.

Their sound is somewhat 60’s retro, but not so much that it becomes a schtick like many of the throwback bands. Think of The Dandy Warhols, only better. The songwriting is top notch and the harmonies are out of this world. I am definitely a converted fan. The soaring chorus alone is worth the download on this one. And while they do have a bit of a retro feel to them, their sound is thick, lush and polished. So if you’re not a ‘retro’ fan, don’t just dismiss them, because there are equal parts Coldplay lurking underneath the sound as well.

I ended up listening to several tracks and finally settled on this one. There were quite a few that could have been picks and I had a rather hard time deciding. That alone should be a testament to Jets songwriting capabilities. So enjoy this one and hopefully we’ll have another song from them to post on Gigatracks sometime in the not-so-distant future.
