Paul Brill delivers ‘Weekday Bender’ to us from his most recent album called ‘New Pagan Love Song’. It’s a little bit brit pop, a little bit indie rock, with a dash of 70’s pop. It’s not too far off from Josh Rouse’s most recent material that also shows a strong penchant for 70’s nostalgia. I think it lies with those keyboards. They give the song depth and warmth, but also its retro sound. Also some hints of Elliot Smith here, only better in my opinion (never was a big Elliot Smith fan).

‘Weekday Bender’ boasts an incredibly strong chorus that really makes the song for me. In fact, that chorus alone would’ve made this song a GT pick. But make no mistake, the rest of the song is really good as well. It’s just usually all about the hook for me and this one delivers.
